The beautiful city villa on the Hogelandsingel street in Enschede will be reassigned. The new occupant Stepping Stones Home & Care is realising a small-scale residential care facility with 24 apartments for elderly who require care. This care villa is the first of its kind in Enschede and will be the 11th care villa Stepping Stones Home & Care will develop. The care villa is expected to be officially opened at the end of 2017.
The future care villa on the Hogelandsingel street is the first location of Stepping Stones Home & Care in the region of Twente. Here, elderly who require care and who can no longer live on their own will have a stylish living environment with high-quality care. Stepping Stones Home & Care focuses on elderly with a complex demand for health care in the field of for example memory problems or somatic disorders. The organisation specialises in care for people with dementia.
The villa dates back to 1928 and is situated in the south-eastern part of Enschede’s city centre, in between two parks, the Blijdensteinpark and the Wooldrikspark. Both parks used to be estates possessed by textile families, the Blijdenstein and Ter Kuil family. Enschede was an important centre for the textile industry from the 19th century onwards. Many historical buildings and city villas are still reminders of that period.
